PRP Facials

PRP Facial Microneedling—often called the “Vampire Facial”—is a cosmetic procedure that combines two techniques:

  1. Microneedling: A device with fine needles creates tiny punctures (micro-injuries) in the skin.

  2. PRP (Platelet-Rich Plasma): A concentration of platelets derived from your own blood is applied to the skin during or after microneedling.

Here's how it works:

1. Blood Draw

A small amount of your blood is drawn, just like a routine lab test.

2. Centrifuge Processing

The blood is spun in a centrifuge to separate the components:

  • Platelet-rich plasma (PRP) is extracted. It contains growth factors and proteins that aid healing and stimulate collagen production.

3. Microneedling

A device (like a Dermapen or SkinPen) creates controlled micro-injuries in the skin's surface, triggering the body’s natural healing response.

4. Application of PRP

PRP is applied topically onto the treated skin. Sometimes it's also injected into deeper layers.

Benefits:

  • Improves skin texture, tone, and firmness

  • Reduces fine lines, wrinkles, acne scars, and pores

  • Stimulates collagen and elastin production

  • Uses your own cells, so there's low risk of allergic reaction

Recovery:

  • Redness and swelling for 1–3 days (like a mild sunburn)

  • Minimal downtime, but no makeup or strong products for 24–48 hours

How many treatments?

Most people do 3–4 sessions, spaced about 4–6 weeks apart, with occasional maintenance every 6–12 months.

FAQ

Can I have PRP microneedling if I have acne?

Yes, you can generally have PRP microneedling if you have acne, but it depends on the type and severity of your acne.

Here’s a breakdown:

✅ Good Candidates for PRP Microneedling (with Acne):

  • Post-acne scarring (especially ice pick or boxcar scars)

  • Mild to moderate active acne (as long as the skin is not inflamed or infected)

  • Oily or acne-prone skin types looking to improve skin texture and reduce breakouts over time

⚠️ When to Avoid or Postpone Treatment:

  • Severe, inflamed, or cystic acne – Microneedling can aggravate active breakouts and spread bacteria.

  • Active skin infections or open wounds

  • Recent use of Accutane (Isotretinoin) – You must typically wait 6 months after stopping treatment.

🧪 Why PRP Helps:

PRP (Platelet-Rich Plasma) contains growth factors that support skin healing, reduce inflammation, and stimulate collagen production. When combined with microneedling, it can:

  • Fade acne scars

  • Improve skin texture and tone

  • Potentially reduce future breakouts due to better skin healing

PRP Hair Restoration

PRF hair restoration refers to a treatment that uses Platelet-Rich Fibrin (PRF) to help stimulate hair growth and combat hair loss. It's a more advanced version of PRP (Platelet-Rich Plasma) therapy.

What is PRF?

PRF is derived from your own blood, like PRP, but it’s processed differently:

  • PRF is spun at a lower speed than PRP, which allows more white blood cells, stem cells, and platelets to remain in the final product.

  • It doesn’t contain anticoagulants, so it forms a fibrin matrix that helps slowly release growth factors over time.

How PRF Hair Restoration Works:

  1. Blood Draw – A small amount of your blood is drawn.

  2. Centrifugation – It’s spun in a special centrifuge to separate the PRF.

  3. Injection – The PRF is injected into areas of thinning hair on the scalp.

  4. Stimulation – Growth factors stimulate hair follicles, improving hair density and thickness over time.

Benefits of PRF Over PRP:

  • Longer release of growth factors (up to 7–10 days vs. a few hours with PRP).

  • No additives or chemicals (100% natural).

  • Higher concentration of healing cells and stem cells.

Ideal Candidates:

  • People with early-stage hair thinning.

  • Those with androgenetic alopecia (male/female pattern hair loss).

  • Individuals looking for a natural, non-surgical option.

Treatment Timeline:

  • Typically 3–4 sessions spaced about 4–6 weeks apart.

  • Maintenance treatments may be needed every 6–12 months.

FAQ

When will I see results?

You can typically expect to start seeing results from PRF (Platelet-Rich Fibrin) hair restoration treatments within 2 to 3 months, with more noticeable improvements around 4 to 6 months after the first session.

Timeline Overview:

  • 0–1 month: No visible changes; PRF is working beneath the scalp to stimulate follicle activity.

  • 2–3 months: Some reduction in hair shedding; early signs of baby hairs or thicker strands in treated areas.

  • 4–6 months: Clearer signs of hair growth and increased density; texture and quality improve.

  • 6–12 months: Continued thickening and improvement, especially if you’ve had a series of treatments.

Best Results:

  • Usually seen after 3–4 sessions, spaced about 4–6 weeks apart.

  • Maintenance treatments may be recommended every 6–12 months depending on your response and goals.
